Has anyone noticed that The Middle is a ripoff of "Malcolm in the Middle"?

...I mean, come on! The name is even similar. It is a watered-down "Malcoln in the Middle" ripoff,with the addition of a cute teenager who keeps taking his shirt off. What is the demographic it is trying to appeal to?
